Hello! My name is Chelsea Cummings, and I am the tutor for the Online Writing Workshop.
Chelsea’s introduction to academic writing began in high school when she participated in the English Literature classes offered at Escondido Tutorial Services by Christy Hinrichs. The works of literature and the wonderful discussions she encountered there inspired her to pursue the humanities in college where she studied literature from around the world and learned how to write with scholarship.
Chelsea graduated in 2011 from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.A in English and a passion for inspiring young minds to explore the worlds of literature and writing. While at UCLA, she had the privilege of learning from top scholars in many fields of literature and witnessed the transformative power of meaningful dialogue with my peers. She studied abroad in Stratford-upon-Avon and London in 2010 exploring Shakespeare and Elizabethan theater, and is honored to have served as President of the English Honor’s Society her senior year.
Since 2011 she has taught several courses for the Escondido Tutorial Services and worked as a private writing tutor for homeschool students in the San Diego and Riverside counties. In the fall of 2015 Chelsea will begin the Single Subject Credentialing Program at the California State Univeristy, Long Beach in order to earn her certification to teach high school Latin. Chelsea loves working with homeschool families and upon earning her credential hopes to teach Latin full-time in San Diego for a classically centered charter school.
Chelsea is thrilled to spend another year tutoring young minds in the art of composition. It is my passion to see students explore their writing potential and take leaps towards scholarly writing. In my free time I enjoy baking, sewing, and sitting with a book and a cup of tea.
